BEYOND MYTHS AND FABLES

We must divest ourselves of well accepted dilutions of the Gospel that are generally held, as well as perversions of truth that are peculiar to our community. We do this because Truth is Life and because these gospels are miserly examples of a scarcity mentality that is the opposite of the generosity of God in Christ.
NOT MISERLY
But God’s Grace is not scarce. This discipline is but a version of separating ourselves from ‘blind leaders of the blind’ because we are people who are not blind, not living in the goldfish bowl of our peculiar mentality and not half alive in a half gospel. But people who are intent on flourishing in Christ.
RICHES
Our inheritance is the riches of Christ. “The economic Trinity and the ontological Trinity overlap with one another and belong to one another, and can no more be separated than the Act of God can be separated from his Being or his Being from his Act. It is in that interrelation between the two that the redemptive significance and evangelical relevance of the Holy Trinity become disclosed.
“What God is toward us and for us in his revealing and saving acts in the incarnate economy undertaken for our sakes, he is in his personal divine Being as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and what he is in his personal divine Being as Father, Son and Holy Spirit he is toward us and for us in the revealing and saving acts of his incarnate economy.
“This is very evident .. in the New Testament witness to the fact that God is Love, and indeed a Communion of Love, out of which his love overflows freely and gratuitously toward us through the Son and in the Spirit as the Love of God for us, in a redeeming movement of Love in which God through his Son and in his Spirit gathers us into union and communion with himself.” (1)
ABUNDANT
Let’s be clear. We do not eek out our lives in any miserly gospel. The riches in Christ that Paul writes of are indeed rich, imparting life to our spirit and health to our soul. The notion of steps to Christ that all must take is an inversion of the Gospel in which God took steps to us in order to undo in Christ the separation that became ours in Adam. The essence of your Christ Life is belonging.
THE CHOICE
We can, if we choose fumble on in our weak gospel like an aged person doddering around tripping over things in his garden. We may do this because delusion is ingrained in our lives, because we have never had the mind of Christ and because we have become immune to truth on account of our brain-washing in the almost gospel of a depleted christ. Why live in a fuddle when you can flourish in the Living Way?
